Bangalore Aqua - Industrial RO Plant Manufacturer for Anekal Taluk

Anekal (ಆನೇಕಲ್) is the southern taluk of Bengaluru Urban district, not Bengaluru Rural (Invest Karnataka, Bengaluru Urban). It has four hoblis (Bengaluru Urban district administration), and the town sits about 36 km from central Bengaluru and around 15 km from both Hosur and Electronic City (Wikipedia, Anekal). Electronic City is itself in Anekal taluk (Wikipedia), and Jigani, Attibele, Bommasandra, Chandapura and Sarjapura are its other industrial areas (Wikipedia, Jigani). Invest Karnataka lists the Attibele, Bommasandra 1-3, Bommasandra Phase 4 – Jigani Link Road, Jigani Phase 1 and 2, Electronic City and Weerasandra industrial areas, and names IT, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, electronics, aerospace and auto components among the district’s major industries.

This corner of Karnataka runs largely on groundwater. Anekal’s industrial groundwater draw is the second highest in the district after Bengaluru City, and its estates sit beside a chain of lakes that a 2022 tribunal-ordered survey found carrying sewage and industrial discharge (details below). So a Bommasandra electronics unit, a Jigani pharma line and a Chandapura apartment may be dealing with very different water.

That is why an industrial RO plant in Anekal has to be engineered, not picked off a price list. Tanker and piped water is usually treated, if at all, for turbidity and bacteria, not for dissolved salts or nitrate. A water softener swaps calcium and magnesium for sodium. It stops scale, but it does not lower TDS or remove nitrate, chloride or fluoride. UV disinfection kills microbes and nothing more. Where official data show high EC, chloride and nitrate, reverse osmosis with the right pre-treatment is the practical way to get drinking water and low-TDS process water that stays in specification.

Bangalore Aqua And Energy Pvt. Ltd. manufactures RO plants, water treatment systems, softeners, community and solar RO plants, and industrial and commercial systems. Every Anekal plant is built at our manufacturing unit in Kogilu Layout, Bengaluru, then dispatched, installed and commissioned on site, with AMC support after handover.

Anekal Water Quality: What the Data Actually Says

An over-exploited aquifer, saline and nitrate-prone bores, and an industrial lake chain are different problems

Groundwater stress (state and CGWB assessments). The joint CGWB and state Dynamic Ground Water Resources of Karnataka 2025 report (mirrored copy) puts Anekal’s stage of groundwater extraction at 105.60% and classes the taluk as over-exploited. Annual extraction is 10,891.97 ham against 10,314.48 ham of extractable resource, with nothing left for future use. Industry takes 2,788.32 ham, second only to Bangalore-City within the district, and Bengaluru Urban has the state’s most industrial wells (29,502). The 2023 assessment (mirrored copy) gave 102.28%, with 3.05 TMC extracted against 2.98 TMC and 0.94 TMC of industrial draw. The older CGWB Ground Water Information Booklet for Bangalore Urban district (December 2008, OpenCity copy) put Anekal at 206% as of March 2004. Methods changed between these reports, but every figure is above 100%.

Quality flags (CGWB booklet). The booklet puts EC across most of Anekal taluk at 1,000-2,000 micromhos/cm, above 2,000 in a small central part, with chloride of 250-1,000 mg/L over the larger part of the taluk and nitrate above the 45 mg/L limit over a major part of it. District-wide, it gives hardness of 100-600 ppm and fluoride generally below 1 ppm. It notes that Anekal drains to the South Pennar (Dakshina Pinakini) of the Ponnaiyar basin, and that pre-monsoon water levels in the taluk fell by about 0.06-0.33 m a year over 1997-2006.

State quality tags. Neither the 2025 nor the 2023 state report tags Anekal for salinity, nitrate, fluoride or uranium; in Bengaluru Urban, only Bangalore (North) and Yelahanka are tagged, for nitrate. The 2023 report does name Bengaluru Urban among districts where some May 2022 samples exceeded 600 mg/L hardness and 45 mg/L nitrate. So nitrate is a site question, neither a blanket rule nor a non-issue.

Rainfall. The 2025 state report gives Bengaluru Urban a normal of 846 mm (934 mm in 2024); the CGWB booklet uses 831 mm. We plan storage around the lower figure.

CGWB monitoring wells in the taluk. CGWB’s groundwater quality dataset on the National Water Data Portal includes May samples from stations at seven Anekal locations:

  • Anekal town (2001-2018): EC 1,394-2,620 µS/cm, chloride 276.51-530 mg/L, hardness 370-680 mg/L.
  • Jigani (2018-2020): EC 1,070-2,550 µS/cm, hardness 210-490 mg/L, chloride 138-415 mg/L.
  • Begihalli (2001-2020): EC 870-2,480 µS/cm, hardness 260-365 mg/L.
  • Haragadde (2006-2016): EC 750-1,527 µS/cm, hardness 250-410 mg/L.
  • Bhaktipura (2014-2018): EC 430-908 µS/cm, hardness 140-200 mg/L, the freshest station.
  • Bommasandra and Sarjapura (single 2000 samples): EC 1,830 and 1,135 µS/cm; Bommasandra hardness 725 mg/L.

The copy we read has no usable TDS, fluoride, nitrate or uranium values for these wells.

Industrial-belt and lake-side bores (NGT joint committee, 2022). In January 2022 a joint committee formed by the National Green Tribunal sampled six borewells around the Chandapura lake catchment, at Hennagara and Yarandahalli in Jigani hobli, near the Bommasandra TMC sewage plant, beside the Chandapura TMC office and at two Heelalige sites (NGT OA 324 of 2021, joint committee report). TDS ranged from 668 to 1,720 mg/L, total hardness from 384 to 1,120 mg/L, chloride from 228 to 604 mg/L and nitrate from 14 to 66 mg/L, with four of the six bores above 45 mg/L. Fluoride stayed between 0.11 and 1.0 mg/L, heavy metals were below detection or within IS 10500, and one Heelalige bore had E. coli. The committee said these bores should be treated before drinking use.

What the lakes receive (same report). The committee traced a chain from Veerasandra lake through Hebbagodi, Kammasandra-Bommasandra and Heelalige lakes into Chandapura lake and graded all of them Class E (irrigation, industrial cooling and controlled waste disposal only). A drain beside Bommasandra Phase I carried COD of 10,896 mg/L, and the Veerasandra outlet drain carried zinc of 23.2 mg/L and iron of 18.85 mg/L, which the committee linked to plating units. KSPCB records cited in the report show 206 of 543 industries in the Jigani-Bommasandra Phase IV, Bommasandra Phase I and Veerasandra estates sending effluent to CETPs, some 25-84 km away by tanker.

Bommasandra industrial area (older studies). A May 2007 survey of 30 groundwater samples there found 73.33% non-potable, with TDS of 226-2,622 mg/L, hardness of 310-1,920 mg/L (mean 878.33), nitrate of 10-302 mg/L (mean 65.07) and chloride up to 1,440 mg/L; chromium made 20% of samples unfit (Shankar and Balasubramanya, Nature Environment and Pollution Technology, 2009). A smaller 2015 study of 16 bores reported TDS of 238.8-622 mg/L and nitrate of 4.31-6.91 mg/L (Shivaprasad et al., IJERA 2015), but its text has internal inconsistencies, so we use it only as a light cross-check.

Weaker sources. A 2010 study of 28 Anekal borewells placed 64.3% in the high-salinity C3-S1 class (Ravikumar et al., abstract only), and a 2023 undergraduate paper reported lead above the BIS limit in all ten groundwater samples it tested (IRJEdT 2023). These are reasons to test, not design numbers.

Piped supply. Cauvery Stage V, inaugurated in October 2024, serves 110 villages in the city’s outer zones (The Hindu, 2025). The proposed Stage 6 names Anekal among towns facing water shortages, but in August 2025 its project report still awaited approval and officials said completion could take up to a decade (Bangalore Mirror). We found no source confirming Cauvery supply to the Anekal, Attibele, Chandapura or Jigani municipal councils, so most sites should plan around bores and tankers.

Takeaway: we do not invent a single Anekal TDS. A Bommasandra electronics unit, an Attibele warehouse and a Chandapura apartment bore can sit in completely different chemistry bands. Every Bangalore Aqua quote for Anekal starts with a feed-water test from your actual source. The numbers above come from CGWB, state assessments, a tribunal-ordered survey and published studies. Your site test decides the design.

Key Sectors We Build For in Anekal

Electronics, Engineering, Auto Components and Plating (Bommasandra, Jigani, Attibele, Veerasandra)

Invest Karnataka names electronics, auto components, aerospace and machine tools among the district’s major sectors, and the NGT report lists zinc electroplating units in the Veerasandra estate. Component, assembly and plating plants need rinse water for washing and coating lines, cooling tower make-up and safe drinking water for shift crews, often from the same bore.

Typical requirement: 1,000-4,000 LPH for process and utility; 500-1,000 LPH for canteens and drinking points; softener or antiscalant ahead of RO; conservative recovery where chloride is high.

Pharma, Biotech and Chemical Pre-Treatment

Invest Karnataka lists biotechnology and pharmaceuticals among the district’s major industries and exports. These plants need RO as the first stage before regulated purified-water systems, plus separate drinking and utility streams.

Typical requirement: 1,000-5,000+ LPH; double-pass RO or mixed-bed polishing ahead of the purified-water system; online conductivity monitoring; documented commissioning for audits.

Garments, Food and Warehousing (Hosur Road and Attibele Side)

Invest Karnataka lists textiles and garments among district exports and food processing among its major sectors. Washing, food lines and warehouse crews along the Hosur Road corridor need safe, stable water, usually from bores or tankers.

Typical requirement: 250-1,000 LPH for staff drinking water; 500-2,000 LPH for washing and food lines; carbon and UV on contact streams.

IT Campuses, Colleges and Hospitals

Electronic City houses around 200 IT and ITES campuses (Wikipedia), and Anekal town hosts a university and engineering colleges. Campuses and hospitals need safe drinking water plus soft water for kitchens, laundries and cooling.

Typical requirement: 500-2,000 LPH; UV plus RO; structured AMC with fast response.

Apartments and Gated Communities (Chandapura, Jigani, Sarjapur-Attibele)

The Chandapura-Anekal stretch is described as an emerging residential hub, and Jigani has several gated layouts (Wikipedia). Associations usually blend bore and tanker water, and the 2022 Chandapura-area bores ran hard and nitrate-prone.

Typical requirement: 1,000-4,000 LPH central plants; softener plus RO; SS storage; AMC with monthly logs for the association.

Nitrate-Affected Villages: Community, CSR and JJM Plants

CGWB has mapped nitrate above the permissible limit across a major part of Anekal taluk, and four of six bores sampled in 2022 crossed 45 mg/L. A community RO plant gives villages a safe drinking-water point; softeners and UV cannot. We build community plants with inlet and permeate water-quality records, Kannada-friendly operator training and multi-year AMC. See Best CSR Project RO Plants, Government Drinking Water Projects and Community RO Plants and Community RO Water Plant Karnataka.

Typical requirement: 500-1,000 LPH community plants; optional UPI or coin dispensing; permeate nitrate checks on an annual lab cycle where the project requires it.

We build the skids at our Kogilu Layout unit in Bengaluru, then install and commission them on site anywhere in Anekal taluk, including Anekal town, Jigani, Bommasandra, Attibele, Chandapura, Sarjapura and the Electronic City edge. AMC and service follow after handover.

No. Anekal is a taluk of Bengaluru Urban district. CGWB places it in the Dakshina Pinakini (South Pennar) catchment of the Ponnaiyar basin.

There isn’t one number. CGWB puts EC across most of the taluk at 1,000-2,000 micromhos/cm, and six bores sampled in 2022 near Jigani, Bommasandra and Chandapura read TDS of 668 to 1,720 mg/L. We design from your own lab report.

A softener removes hardness and stops scale. It does not lower TDS, chloride or nitrate. In Anekal the softener often stays in place as pre-treatment to protect the RO membranes, because hardness reached 680 mg/L at the Anekal town station and 1,120 mg/L in one 2022 industrial-belt bore.

In many places, yes. CGWB mapped nitrate above 45 mg/L across a major part of the taluk, and four of six bores tested in 2022 were above that limit. The latest state report does not tag Anekal, so we test every site and verify the permeate.

Usually not the main one. CGWB reports fluoride generally below 1 ppm in the district, and the 2022 bores read 0.11 to 1.0 mg/L. We still test it on every drinking-water job.

Yes. Bores sampled in 2022 were within IS 10500 for metals, but nearby drains carried zinc, iron and very high COD, and a 2007 Bommasandra survey found chromium in some samples. A heavy-metal panel costs little compared with a fouled membrane.

Yes, if it is designed for the worse of the two. We test both sources, size pre-treatment for tanker variability and set membranes and recovery for the bore’s TDS and hardness. Standard skids are typically installed in about 2-5 working days after the site is ready (base, power, inlet and drain).

Indicative bands run from ₹85,000 for 250-500 LPH to ₹2.2-3.5 lakh+ for 2,000-4,000 LPH, with custom plants on assessment. Metals removal, extra pre-treatment, automation and civil work change the final figure, which we confirm in writing after the water test.

Yes. We take on AMC and repairs for existing plants after an inspection and a water test.
