Bangalore Aqua - Industrial RO Plant Manufacturer for Devanahalli Taluk

Devanahalli (ದೇವನಹಳ್ಳಿ) is one of the four taluks of Bengaluru Rural district, alongside Doddaballapura, Hosakote and Nelamangala, and it is the taluk that hosts Kempegowda International Airport (Invest Karnataka, Bengaluru Rural). Invest Karnataka lists textiles, aerospace, automobile and electrical/electronics as the district’s major sectors, and its KIADB list includes the Aerospace Park, Bengaluru Hardware Park, the Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park and the Devanahalli General Industrial Area, with airport metro connectivity under implementation.

KSIIDC plans about 407 acres next to the airport as a mixed-use business park (KSIIDC), while the state dropped a 1,777-acre aerospace park acquisition in Channarayapatna hobli in July 2025 after a long farmers’ protest (The Hindu, July 2025). The taluk remains a mix of parks, airport services, townships and farms, around a 1501 fort about 14 km from the airport (Bengaluru Rural district).

Water reaches these sites in very different ways. Invest Karnataka names groundwater and rainwater as the district’s supply systems. Devanahalli town relies on borewells that now go past 1,000 feet (CWAS / GSAC case study), while local tanks are being filled with treated Bengaluru wastewater under the Hebbal-Nagawara (HN) Valley project. So neighbouring sites can face completely different water.

That is why an industrial RO plant in Devanahalli has to be engineered, not picked off a price list. Piped and estate water is usually treated for turbidity and bacteria, not for dissolved salts, fluoride or nitrate. A water softener swaps calcium and magnesium for sodium: it stops scale, but it does not lower TDS or remove fluoride or nitrate. UV disinfection kills microbes, and that is all it does. In a taluk where official assessments put extraction far above sustainable recharge, and district data show hardness, fluoride and nitrate above limits in places (details below), reverse osmosis with the right pre-treatment is the practical way to get drinking and process water that stays in specification.

Bangalore Aqua And Energy Pvt. Ltd. manufactures industrial, commercial, community and solar RO plants and softeners. Every Devanahalli plant is built at our manufacturing unit in Kogilu Layout, Bengaluru, on the same airport corridor, then dispatched, installed and commissioned on site, with AMC support after handover.

Devanahalli Water Quality: What the Data Actually Says

Over-exploited deep bores, HN Valley tank recharge and estate supply are different problems

Taluk-level stress (CGWB and Ground Water Directorate). The joint Dynamic Ground Water Resources of Karnataka 2025 report (mirrored copy) classifies Devanahalli taluk as over-exploited, with a stage of extraction of 172.27%: about 4,990 ham drawn a year against about 2,897 ham of extractable resource, the highest of the four (all over-exploited) Bengaluru Rural taluks. The 2023 assessment (mirrored copy) put it at 174.68%. Bores keep deepening, and chemistry can shift as they do.

District quality picture. The Central Ground Water Board’s Bangalore Rural Ground Water Information Booklet (March 2013, mirrored copy) records fluoride in pockets, pre-monsoon water levels mostly 5-30 m below ground and post-monsoon 5-40 m (2011), and average annual rainfall of 824 mm (1901-70 normal; Invest Karnataka quotes about 650 mm). The 2023 assessment, from May 2022 sampling of 1,547 monitoring wells, lists Bengaluru Rural among districts with samples above 600 mg/L hardness, 1.5 mg/L fluoride and 45 mg/L nitrate. Neither publishes a single district TDS, so we do not invent one.

2025 quality tags. The 2025 report does not tag Devanahalli for salinity, nitrate, fluoride or uranium, but tags neighbouring Yelahanka for nitrate and Chikkaballapur and Chintamani for uranium. A taluk tag is a broad average, not a clean bill for every bore.

Devanahalli town supply. The CWAS / GSAC case study reports 31 of 122 town borewells not working and around 13 RO units for drinking water. A shallow-aquifer plant beside Sihineerukere, which is topped up with HN Valley water via Bagaluru lake, now supplies about 6.4 lakh litres a day (roughly 10% of demand) for non-drinking domestic use (The Hindu, October 2024). Its 2023 output, after filtration, carbon and UV but no RO, measured TDS 460.7-622.7 mg/L, hardness 206-247.2 mg/L, fluoride 0.1-0.2 mg/L and nitrate 0.9-1.4 mg/L across three samples (CWAS document). That is one site’s treated water, not a taluk average.

Village bores (small study). A 2025 water-quality-index study of village borewells in Devanahalli taluk, sampled in March, reports only 4 of 10 samples within the 500 mg/L TDS limit, 8 of 10 within 300 mg/L hardness and all 10 within 45 mg/L nitrate (Devanahalli taluk WQI study, 2025). It is a small single-season sample, so treat it as indicative.

HN Valley tanks and treated-wastewater recharge. The HN Valley project lifts about 210 MLD of Bengaluru’s treated wastewater to 65 tanks (CWAS), 9 of them in Devanahalli taluk. In a 2026 survey of 48 farmers around three of these tanks, 81.25% said groundwater levels had risen and 77.08% wanted tertiary treatment made compulsory (IOSR-JHSS 2026). One IISc scientist warns that nutrients in secondary-treated water can oxidise to nitrate underground, while another IISc team credits soil-aquifer treatment with improving it (Mongabay India, 2023). The scheme is still growing, with 164 more Chikkaballapur tanks and 59 Hosakote tanks announced in 2026 (The Hindu, March 2026). We found no full-text peer-reviewed study with measured nitrate or TDS for Devanahalli tank-zone bores, so we treat them as a full-panel lab item.

Neighbouring Chikkaballapur taluk (published abstract). A 2024 study of 153 post-monsoon samples found about 40-41% above the 1 mg/L fluoride guidance it used and 17% of rural samples above 45 mg/L nitrate (Environmental Quality Management, 2024, abstract). Useful context for the northern edge of the taluk, but not Devanahalli data.

Surface water, the airport and future supply. Yettinahole is now targeted for the end of 2027, with its balancing reservoir moved to Lakkenehalli in Doddaballapur taluk (News Karnataka, August 2026), so we would not design a 2026 plant around it. The airport operator reports a 2.5 MLD recycling STP and rooftop rainwater harvesting in five nearby villages where safe drinking water had become a challenge (Passenger Terminal Today, 2021).

Takeaway: we do not invent a single Devanahalli TDS. An airport hotel, a KIADB electronics line, a packhouse by a tank and a township on a 1,000-foot bore can sit in completely different chemistry bands. Every Bangalore Aqua quote for Devanahalli starts with a feed-water test from your actual source. Your site test decides the design.

Key Sectors We Build For in Devanahalli

Aerospace, Defence and Precision Engineering (KIADB Aerospace Park, Hi-Tech Defence and Aerospace Park)

Invest Karnataka lists both parks among the district’s KIADB areas and aerospace components among its key exports. A park association describes dual pipelines for potable and tertiary treated water (park association). Component washing, coolant make-up, labs and staff drinking water all need stable chemistry shift after shift.

Typical requirement: 1,000-4,000 LPH for process and utility water; double-pass RO or mixed-bed polishing for rinse and lab streams; online TDS monitoring; AMC planned around production calendars.

Electronics, Hardware Park and Battery Projects

Invest Karnataka lists Bengaluru Hardware Park, electrical/electronics as a major sector, and large electronics and battery projects in Devanahalli. These lines usually need RO ahead of further polishing, plus large canteen and dormitory drinking-water loads.

Typical requirement: 2,000-4,000 LPH per line; custom 5,000+ LPH for large campuses; RO feeding the buyer’s downstream polishing; staged capacity planned into the skid room.

Airport-Linked Hotels, Flight Kitchens, Logistics and the Business Park

Hotels, flight kitchens, cargo and cold-chain operators need safe drinking water, soft water for kitchens, laundry and hot-water loops, and low-TDS water for ice, often from mixed estate, tanker and recycled supply.

Typical requirement: 500-2,000 LPH; UV plus RO on drinking and food-contact streams; softener for laundry and boilers; structured AMC with fast response.

Food, Beverage, Dairy and Agro-Processing

Invest Karnataka lists ragi, maize, mango, grapes and pomegranate among district produce and processed food among key exports. Washing, blanching, beverage make-up and CIP need water that passes FSSAI audits.

Typical requirement: 500-2,000 LPH for most units; 2,000-4,000 LPH for larger lines; carbon and UV on product-contact water; softener or antiscalant where hardness is high.

Floriculture, Grapes and Horticulture (HN Valley tank belt)

In the IOSR survey around Devanahalli’s HN Valley tanks, 54.16% of farmers had moved to floriculture. Packhouses, misting, cold rooms and post-harvest washing need low-TDS water that will not spot produce or scale nozzles.

Typical requirement: 250-1,000 LPH for packhouses and nurseries; 1,000-2,000 LPH for aggregators and cold stores; nitrate and fluoride checked in permeate where drinking water is drawn from the same skid.

Apparel and Textiles (Doddaballapur apparel park, next door)

Invest Karnataka lists textiles as a major sector and readymade garments as a key export. Garment washing, dyeing and finishing are sensitive to hardness, iron and TDS, and large workforces need safe drinking water.

Typical requirement: 500-2,000 LPH; softener where scale is the main issue; RO for wash, dye-house and drinking streams where chemistry calls for it.

Hospitals, Colleges and Hostels

Invest Karnataka counts 114 colleges, 3 universities and 259 hospitals in the district. Campuses, hostels and hospitals around Devanahalli, Vijayapura and the airport corridor need safe drinking water plus soft water for laundry and kitchens.

Typical requirement: 500-2,000 LPH; UV plus RO; documented commissioning and structured AMC.

Residential Townships and Gated Communities

New townships along the airport corridor often start on deep borewells and tankers. A central plant with buffer storage gives every household the same tested water and one maintenance schedule.

Typical requirement: 1,000-4,000 LPH community-scale plants; SS storage; online TDS display; reject water routed to flushing or landscaping where the chemistry allows.

Community, CSR and JJM Plants

With CGWB noting fluoride in pockets, district data showing nitrate above limits in places, and the town already relying on around 13 RO units, community RO plants are a practical public-health step for villages on deep bores. Softeners and UV are not. We build community plants with inlet and permeate water-quality records, Kannada-friendly operator training and multi-year AMC. See Best CSR Project RO Plants, Government Drinking Water Projects and Community RO Plants and Community RO Water Plant Karnataka.

Typical requirement: 500-1,000 LPH community plants; optional UPI or coin dispensing; permeate fluoride and nitrate checks on an annual lab cycle where the project requires it.

Do you manufacture the plant in Devanahalli or ship it from Bengaluru?

We build the skids at our Kogilu Layout unit in Bengaluru, on the same airport corridor, then install and commission them anywhere in Devanahalli taluk, from the airport area and KIADB parks to Vijayapura and Budigere. AMC and service follow after handover.

Yes. The 2025 state assessment classifies Devanahalli taluk as over-exploited, with extraction at 172.27% of the extractable resource. Bores get deeper and chemistry can drift, so we design with margin and recommend a yearly retest.

There isn’t one number. A small 2025 study found 6 of 10 village samples above 500 mg/L, and even filtered shallow-aquifer water in the town measured 460.7-622.7 mg/L in 2023. CGWB does not publish a single district TDS. We design from your own lab report.

It changes the testing. Recharge can raise water levels, but scientists disagree about long-term effects on nitrate, and no published measured dataset exists for these bores that we could find. We run a full ion and microbiological panel, keep recovery conservative and verify nitrate in the permeate.

A softener removes hardness and stops scale. It does not lower TDS, chloride, sulphate, nitrate or fluoride. In Devanahalli the softener usually stays in place as pre-treatment to protect the RO membranes.

For drinking water, yes, wherever your lab report shows it. CGWB notes fluoride in pockets across the district, and the 2023 state assessment lists Bengaluru Rural among districts with samples above 1.5 mg/L. We verify permeate fluoride at commissioning rather than assume it.

Yes. Our RO plant can be the main purification stage for rinse, coolant make-up and lab water, feeding double-pass RO or mixed-bed polishing where your specification needs it, with a separate drinking-water stream. We hand over commissioning data.

Yes, if it is designed for the worse of the two. We test both sources, size buffer storage for irregular supply, and set membranes and recovery for the harder, higher-TDS water.

Yes. We cover needs assessment, lab testing, manufacture, installation, Kannada-friendly operator training, pre and post water-quality records, and AMC. See Best CSR Project RO Plants.

Indicative bands run from ₹85,000 for 250-500 LPH to ₹2.2-3.5 lakh+ for 2,000-4,000 LPH, with custom plants on assessment. Pre-treatment, automation and civil work change the final figure, which we confirm in writing after the water test.
