Bangalore Aqua - Industrial RO Plant Supplier for Koppal District

Koppal (ಕೊಪ್ಪಳ) became a district on 1 April 1998, carved from Raichur (Koppal district site; CGWB Koppal booklet). The district site records Anegundi in Gangavathi taluk as the first Vijayanagara capital. Invest Karnataka puts the district at 7,189 sq km, with a 2011 population of 13,91,292 and seven taluks: Koppal, Gangavathi, Kushtagi, Yelburga, Kukanoor, Kanakagiri and Karatagi. CGWB’s 2012 booklet still uses the older four-taluk map and 5,559 sq km, so the two figures are a boundary change, not two readings of the same map.

The Tungabhadra organises the economy. CGWB places the district in the Tungabhadra sub-basin of the Krishna and names the Tungabhadra and Hirehalla projects (about 46,000 ha and 48,460 ha). Invest Karnataka lists paddy, maize, jowar, bajra, sugarcane, sunflower, pomegranate and grapes. Gangavathi is the rice bowl: canal-fed paddy and 106 rice mills with 34,000 metric tonnes of capacity in the CGWB booklet. Kushtagi and Yelburga are rainfall, tank and well country, with a low water table and a grey-area declaration for agriculture.

Invest Karnataka lists iron, steel, tourism, granite, rice, mineral and artisan industries, counts 31,084 small-scale units and 33 large ones, and names sponge iron, steel, renewable power, solar and the Koppal toys cluster. Land bank notes: Kushtagi 38.04 acres, Gangavathi 0.50 acres, Kyadiguppa 270 acres, and steel ancillary plans on 154.39 acres at Basapura. Power already listed includes hydel at Shivapura, wind at Hanumasagar, three biomass units in Gangavathi, and solar and wind across taluks. Kinnal toys are a registered GI (Application No. 213, valid through 1 August 2030) (IP India).

Munirabad (ಮುನಿರಾಬಾದ್), also called Huligi, sits on the Tungabhadra dam, about 8 km by bus from Hosapete. That is the Hospet-adjacent edge. It is not Ballari’s iron-ore belt. Koppal’s published profile is rice, granite, mineral industries, sponge iron and steel ancillaries, tourism and crafts. We do not import Ballari’s mine list into a Koppal design brief.

A rice mill on canal water, a granite unit on a Kushtagi borewell and a Munirabad site office can each face different chemistry. Piped or canal water is usually managed for silt and bacteria, not for dissolved salts or fluoride. A softener stops scale but does not lower TDS or remove fluoride. UV kills microbes only. Where reports show fluoride pockets, elevated conductivity and chloride, and nitrate or TDS above limits (details below), RO with the right pre-treatment is the practical way to hold drinking and process water in specification.

Bangalore Aqua And Energy Pvt. Ltd. is the supplier from design to AMC. We manufacture RO plants, softeners, community and solar RO plants, and industrial systems at our Kogilu Layout unit in Bengaluru. For Koppal we supply, install and commission on site, then support with AMC.

Koppal Water Quality: What the Data Actually Says

Canal-command paddy land, granite-gneiss bores and the dam belt are different problems

District picture (CGWB). The Koppal Ground Water Information Booklet reports EC from 730 to 2,870 micromhos/cm at 25°C, chloride from 43 to 639 mg/L, and fluoride from 0.6 to 2.7 mg/L. Fluoride is generally 1.0 to 1.5 mg/L, with pockets up to 2.7 mg/L in Gangavathi and Kushtagi. Beyond 1.5 ppm is unsuitable for drinking. The booklet lists fluoride, nitrate and TDS above limits in a few pockets, and water as potable to brackish along river courses and command areas. It publishes no district TDS, nitrate or hardness range, so we do not invent those.

Rainfall in the booklet is an average annual 572 mm (normal 571.92 mm), about 46 rainy days. Invest Karnataka currently shows 3,800 mm, which does not match CGWB, so we do not use it. The 2004 assessment put groundwater development at 48.12%, with three partly over-exploited blocks and one partly critical block. Premonsoon water levels in 2011 were about 1.91 to 12.20 metres below ground. Aquifers are weathered and fractured granites, gneisses and schists.

Hirehalla watershed (Gadag and Koppal taluks, not Koppal alone). A 2015 study the authors place in Gadag and Koppal taluks found pre-monsoon fluoride from 0.6 to 2.1 mg/L (average 1.29) and post-monsoon fluoride from 0.8 to 10 mg/L (average 3.37), with the highest listed post-monsoon reading of 10 mg/L at Venkatapur (IJRAT 2015). The watershed crosses district lines, so this is not a Koppal-only number. It shows fluoride in this granite-gneiss belt can swing hard between seasons.

Hanumasagar, Kushtagi taluk (ಕುಷ್ಟಗಿ). A 2019 study of borewells around Hanumasagar reports TDS from 161 to 1,236 mg/L, chloride from 57 to 738 mg/L, total hardness from 604 to 824 mg/L, and pH from 6.4 to 7.9 (Megha and Desai, IRJET 2019). Its fluoride section conflicts with itself, so we do not use a fluoride number from that paper. TDS, chloride and hardness are a local snapshot, not a district design value.

Koppal taluk, 2022-23. A study of 25 sites reports a drinking-water quality index from 9.04 to 75.24 and says TDS was the most representative variable. The open abstract does not publish a TDS, fluoride, nitrate or hardness range (Basanagouda et al., 2025), so we do not back-calculate one.

Karatagi, Kanakagiri, Kukanoor and Munirabad. We did not open a peer-reviewed paper that publishes TDS or fluoride ranges for these towns. Fluoride, nitrate and TDS stay on the first lab panel until your report says otherwise. Canal and dam water brings seasonal silt and organics, and CGWB’s brackishness note along river courses is a warning, not a design TDS.

Planning table

Concern

Planning note

Implication

Fluoride

CGWB: 0.6-2.7 mg/L, generally 1.0-1.5, pockets to 2.7 in Gangavathi and Kushtagi; Hirehalla post-monsoon 0.8-10 mg/L

RO with permeate fluoride checked at commissioning; softener or UV alone is not a fix

TDS

Named above permissible limits in a few pockets by CGWB, with no district number published; Hanumasagar snapshot 161-1,236 mg/L

Membrane choice and recovery set from the measured TDS; plan where the reject goes

EC

730-2,870 micromhos/cm at 25°C in the CGWB set

Use EC as a screening flag, not as a substitute for a TDS test

Hardness

No district hardness range in the CGWB booklet; Hanumasagar snapshot 604-824 mg/L

Softener and/or antiscalant ahead of RO as standard until the lab says otherwise

Chloride

43-639 mg/L in the CGWB set; 57-738 mg/L at Hanumasagar

Chloride on the lab panel; corrosion-aware materials where it is high

Nitrate

Named above permissible limits in a few pockets; no numeric range in the sources we could open

Nitrate on the first lab panel; verify permeate

Over-extraction

Stage of development 48.12% (2004); three partly OE blocks and one partly critical; new-borewell limits in Kushtagi-Yelburga grey area

Retest bores yearly; chemistry can shift as wells deepen

Canal and dam water

Tungabhadra and Hirehalla irrigation; brackishness noted along river courses and command areas

Multimedia, carbon, UF where silt spikes; buffer storage for irregular supply

Takeaway: we do not invent a single Koppal TDS. A Gangavathi rice mill, a Kushtagi granite bore, a Koppal steel-ancillary plot and a hotel at Anegundi can sit in different chemistry bands. Every Bangalore Aqua quote for Koppal starts with a feed-water test from your actual source. The numbers above come from CGWB and published studies, and your site test decides the design.

Key Sectors We Supply in Koppal

Paddy and Rice Mills (Gangavathi, Karatagi, Koppal)

Gangavathi is the marketing town for the canal-command paddy belt. CGWB records 106 rice mills and 34,000 metric tonnes of capacity, and Invest Karnataka lists rice industries plus a proposed rice technology park. Mills need parboil and boiler water where they steam, wash water that will not salt the grain, and drinking water for crews. Canal water and a backup borewell are often both in use.

Typical requirement: 500-2,000 LPH for process and drinking; 2,000-4,000 LPH for larger mills; softener or antiscalant ahead of RO where hardness is high; AMC timed to the paddy season.

Steel, Sponge Iron, Granite and Mineral MSMEs (Koppal, Basapura, Kushtagi, Kyadiguppa)

Invest Karnataka lists iron, steel, granite and mineral industries, and points to steel ancillary land at Basapura, granite-linked area at Kushtagi and a larger tract at Kyadiguppa. Sheds need cooling make-up, wash water, boiler feed where they steam, and drinking water. We did not verify operating iron-ore leases inside Koppal, so pit water from the Ballari ore belt is not assumed.

Typical requirement: 1,000-4,000 LPH for utility and drinking; 500-1,000 LPH for smaller granite sheds; full ion panel before membrane selection.

Renewable Power Sites (Hanumasagar, Shivapura, Gangavathi biomass, solar across taluks)

Invest Karnataka records wind at Hanumasagar, hydel at Shivapura, three biomass units in Gangavathi taluk, and solar and wind across taluks. Arrays and turbines use little process water. Demand sits in O&M rooms, gate cabins and biomass utilities, often on remote bores. Hanumasagar is also the village with the hardness and TDS snapshot above.

Typical requirement: 250-1,000 LPH for O&M bases; 1,000-2,000 LPH for biomass or construction camps; fluoride on the first lab panel.

Sugarcane Belts, Oilseeds, Horticulture and Town MSMEs

Sugarcane is a listed cash crop. CGWB’s 2009-10 table records 945 hectares, far smaller than sunflower and groundnut in the same table, and Invest Karnataka lists it with oil-bearing crops. We did not verify a currently operating sugar factory on a government industry page, so we do not assume a crushing-season boiler plant. The live demand we supply for is oilseed and pulse units, pomegranate and grape packhouses, and estate sheds. A sugar unit, if it is actually running, is sized only from its own lab report.

Typical requirement: 500-2,000 LPH for packhouses and oilseed units; boiler-feed RO only after a site test if a sugar unit is running.

Kinnal Crafts, Heritage Tourism and Dam-Side Hospitality (Kinnal, Anegundi, Kanakagiri, Itagi, Munirabad)

Kinnal (ಕಿನ್ನಾಳ) toys carry a GI registration. Visitors also come for Anegundi (ಆನೆಗುಂದಿ), Kanakagiri, Itagi’s Mahadeva temple, Pampa Sarovar and the Munirabad dam, listed by Invest Karnataka or the district site. Hotels, homestays and temple kitchens need safe drinking water plus soft water for laundry.

Typical requirement: 250-1,000 LPH for homestays and craft units; 500-2,000 LPH for hotels; UV plus RO; AMC through the tourist season.

Hospitals, Colleges and Hostels

Invest Karnataka lists 62 allopathy hospitals, 312 private hospitals and nursing homes, 48 primary health centres, 9 community health centres, 17 degree colleges, 6 polytechnics and 2 medical colleges. Wards and hostels need drinking water checked for fluoride and nitrate, not only a softener on the laundry line.

Typical requirement: 500-2,000 LPH; UV plus RO; structured AMC.

Fluoride Villages: Community, CSR and JJM Plants

Where borewell fluoride is high, a community RO plant is a health intervention. Softeners and UV are not. We supply plants with inlet and permeate records, Kannada-friendly operator training and multi-year AMC. See Best CSR Project RO Plants, Government Drinking Water Projects and Community RO Plants and Community RO Plants for Tribal Areas.

Typical requirement: 500-1,000 LPH community plants; optional UPI or coin dispensing; annual permeate fluoride checks where required.

Manufacturing base: Kogilu Layout, Bengaluru – Our Presence

You are a supplier in Koppal, but where is the plant built?

We build the skids at our Kogilu Layout unit in Bengaluru, then supply, install and commission them across Koppal district, including Gangavathi, Karatagi, Kushtagi, Yelburga, Kanakagiri and Munirabad. AMC follows handover.

Parboil, wash and drinking streams need stable, low TDS and hardness. Canal water still needs a test, because command-area groundwater can be brackish. We design RO for process and drinking water, with carbon and UV on food-contact streams, and we time AMC to the paddy season.

There isn’t one number. CGWB names TDS above limits in a few pockets and publishes no district TDS. A Hanumasagar snapshot ran from 161 to 1,236 mg/L. We design from your own lab report.

A softener removes hardness and stops scale. It does not lower TDS, chloride, nitrate or fluoride. In Koppal it often stays as pre-treatment to protect the RO membranes where hardness is high.

For drinking water, yes, wherever the lab shows it. CGWB found 0.6 to 2.7 mg/L, with pockets to 2.7 mg/L in Gangavathi and Kushtagi. A Hirehalla watershed study covering Koppal taluk found post-monsoon fluoride up to 10 mg/L. We check permeate fluoride at commissioning.

Yes, if it is designed for the worse of the two sources. We test both, size pre-treatment for canal turbidity, and set membranes for the borewell. Standard skids typically install in about 2-5 working days after the site is ready.

Yes. Munirabad is in Koppal, on the dam, a short run from Hosapete. We supply offices, hotels and sheds on the Koppal bank. We do not treat that as a Ballari iron-ore site. The lab panel is still fluoride, TDS, hardness and chloride.

Yes as a pre-treatment stage for boiler feed, cooling make-up, wash water and drinking water. High-pressure boilers usually need demineralised water after RO, so we design around your boiler maker’s specification.

Indicative bands run from ₹85,000 for 250-500 LPH to ₹2.2-3.5 lakh+ for 2,000-4,000 LPH, with custom plants priced on assessment. Freight, civil work and automation change the final figure after the water test.

Yes. We take on AMC and repairs for existing plants after an inspection and a water test, including idle community plants.
